Why this family

Children like to see families that look like theirs, and families that don’t, in the pictures they color. The Olé family is a Black Caribbean-American family of six across three generations. The pages show ordinary, happy things: a grandmother reading under a tree, a father teaching shoelaces, a porch dance, a beach cleanup.

Questions grown-ups ask

What ages are GingerFruit coloring pages for?

Ages 4 to 8. The outlines are bold and the spaces are big and open, which suits preschool, kindergarten and the early elementary grades.

How do I print the pages?

Use US Letter paper (8.5 x 11 inches) and black ink, choose “Fit to page,” and print on one side. On A4 paper, “Fit to page” prints the whole picture with a slightly wider margin.

Can I photocopy or print pages for my class?

Yes, for your own group. If you buy the print-at-home PDF you may print as many copies as you like for your own family, classroom or care group. The free page may be printed for your own group too. Please don’t resell the pages, post the files online or pass the file on. Send other grown-ups a link to this site instead.

What will my child color with?

Crayons, colored pencils and washable markers all work. The paperback is printed on one side of each sheet, so markers won’t spoil the next picture.

Who is in the pictures?

The Olé family, a Black Caribbean-American family: big sister Ginger-O, little brother Mang-O, Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa. The pages show them gardening, cooking, making music and looking after each other.

Does this site collect anything from children?

No. The site is written for grown-ups. There are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking cookies, and the email sign-up is for adults only. The privacy page has the details.

How were the pictures made?

The characters are original GingerFruit designs. The coloring-page illustrations were produced with AI-assisted tools from those designs.
