Who are the Olé family?

The Olé family (say it “oh-lay”) is a first-generation Caribbean-American family: Ginger-O, Mang-O, Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa. They run a tropical juice store and keep a garden behind it. Ginger-O is named for ginger, which is spicy. Mang-O is named for mango, which is sweet. Meet each of them.

What’s in the pictures

You’ll find mango trees and baskets of mangoes, ginger flowers, a market fruit stand, hand drums and maracas, a porch with rocking chairs, and a day at the beach. Grandma’s ginger-mango fruit salad gets a page of its own.
